Who is Snooki Polizzi?

Holy bump-its! It appears that Snooki costumes were one of the top sellers in women's costumes during the Halloween 2010 season. Snooki, aka Nicole Polizzi, is the star of MTV's reality series JerseyShore who is most famous for her diminutive size, poofed-up hair and sassy "guidette" attitude. Even though she's tiny, Snooki is not one to be messed with - although a drunken bar patron did infamously punch in the face on one series.

While Snooki costumes may have been popular with those peeps who wanted to parody her unique style, she took an entirely different direction for her Halloween costume in 2010. No, she didn't dress up as a beer bottle or a sexy baseball girl or as a sauced senorita with a drink in hand. Instead, when invited to be a judge at a costume contest at The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas, Snooki showed up as a tribute to one of her favorite foods - pickles.

Her pickle costume was custom-made from a variety of fabrics and sequins in shades of green. Her mini dress was completely covered in large sequins designed to look like crinkle-cut dill pickle slices. A full, long green cape reaching to the floor added a royal flair to her Halloween costume as did a pair of sparkly green heels and a rhinestone tiara. However, the piece de resistance to Snooki's costume was the huge scepter she carried that featured an illuminated green pickle on top! She was definitely a cucumber cutie, but inquiring minds want to know if she was fully marinated like she is on most of the shows!

While becoming the Princess of Pickles might not be for you, there are many other food-inspired costume ideas perfect to wear to your next costume event -- perhaps the Lord of Lettuce, the Maiden of Mustard or the Sultan of Spaghetti. All you need is a sheath-style costume representing the appropriate food, a long cape and a crown. Or, you can go as the Burger King based on the fast-food franchise's weirdly large-headed mascot.
