Best John Travolta Movies

John Joseph Travolta who is better known as John Travolta is an American actor and singer. The 54 year old actor started his career in the 1970's when he appeared on American television and has since made a mark for himself in the industry. Travolta has acted in over 50 movies out of which many of them have gone on to become super hits.

John Travolta's first major hit was Saturday Night Fever (1977) in which he played the role of a 19 year old carefree and immature teenager, Tony Manero. The plot followed Tony's love for the discotheque, where he spent his weekends dancing and enjoying himself thus helping him temporarily forget the harsh realities of his life. The movie was a commercial success and is regarded to be one of Travolta's best movies ever. The film which had 17 soundtracks popularized disco music world over. His role as Tony Manero also won him an Academy Award nomination for the best actor.

John Travolta who was already popular after the success of Saturday Night Fever delivered his next big hit, Grease (1978) which was a musical. Another one among Travolta's best movies, Grease received success both in terms of critics and commercially. The story revolves around Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John), two high school students who fall in love. The film which also starred Stockard Channing, and Jeff Conaway received 5 Golden Globe nominations and eventually went on to become the highest grossing musical film ever.

Grease was followed by Urban Cowboy in which he played the role of Bud Davis. The romantic drama too did well at the Box Office. However, Urban Cowboy was followed from by a line of flops which included Staying Alive and Two of a Kind. What followed this string of flops was the movie which is regarded as his best ever, Pulp Fiction.

Pulp Fiction released in 1994 and re-catapulted John Travolta back into stardom. He played the role of hitman Vincent Vega which got him an Academy Award nomination. The movie was shot very stylishly and the director followed a unique method of narration, splitting the story into three parts. The film won 7 Oscar nominations including one for Travolta and enjoyed immense success at the box office.

John Travolta followed Pulp Fiction with hits like Get Shorty (1995) which was followed by Face/Off which is one of his best movies till date. He plays the role of an FBI agent who assumes the identity of a terrorist (Nicholas Cage) to bring him down. The movie was a commercial super hit.
Travolta has since delivered a number of hits like A Civil Action (1998), Primary Colors (1998), The General's Daughter (1999) and the recent From Paris With Love (2010) which did good business at the Box Office.
