Who is Eva Longoria?

Eva Longoria Parker is an American actress best known for her role in the television series "Desperate Housewives". She was born to parents Enrique Longoria, Jr. and Ella Eva Mireles on March 15th, 1975, in Texas. She attended Marvin P. Baker Middle School and later the Roy Miller High School. She received her bachelor's degree for kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She had wanted to pursue a career in modeling while in school but was turned down because of her height. In 1998 she won the title of Miss Corpus Christi, USA. She moved to Los Angeles, California after she entered a talent contest and was spotted by a theatrical agent.

She made her debut in television guest-starring in an episode of "Beverly Hills, 90210". The same year she again did a guest appearence in "General Hospital" that
brought about the first break for her by landing up with a role in the soap opera "The Young and the Restless". She played the character of Isabella Braña Williams
for three year since 2001. She then moved on to work in "Dragnet" in which she played the lead. She landed in the much famous role of Gabrielle Solis in "Desperate Housewife" which went on to become a hit worldwide pushing her up the A-list actors in 2004.

In 2006 for her role in Desperate Housewives she was nominated for Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy along
with her co-stars. She also won the ALMA Award and was named entertainer of the year. Her first major role in theatrical movie came with the thriller "The Sentinel" in 2006.

In 2003, People en Español listed Longoria amongst the "Most Beautiful People". She was also listed No. 1 in Maxim's Hottest Female Stars of 2005 and 2006. In 2007, Longoria was chosen as the first face for Bebe Sport. She is also the model for L'Oréal and Hanes, New York & Co. She is also the part of Microsoft's "I'm A PC" ad campaign.

She founded the Eva's Heroes, a charity organization to help developmentally disabled children. She is also the spokesperson for the PADRES Contra El Cancer.
She was awarded Philanthropist of the year by the Hollywood Reporter for her work toward the Latino causes and giving back to the community. She appeared in the French game show Fort Boyard and made over €20,000 that she donated to the Make-a-
Wish Foundation.
