Fiction - On "Jaws", humans were represented as the usual main course of its daily menu. In fact, the great white shark will often let a human prey go free after tasting it since humans are too bony. If given a choice, a seal will be a better meal.

Fact - The great white shark is one of the three most aggressive shark species involved in attacks on humans. The two other species are the tiger shark and the bull shark.
Fiction - According to the movie, the great white shark is the most dangerous predator of the oceans. An ocean or a sea is home to a huge variety of predators which are only trying to feed themselves for survival purposes.

Fact - You have more chances to die in a car accident or being hit by lightening than by a great white shark. Only a maximum of 60 fatal shark attacks have been recorded on a yearly basis.
Fiction - Every time that someone was either hunting "Jaws" or put as much as a foot in the water, someone ended up on its menu. In fact, the great white shark prefers seals colonies to human ones. That is why when a human is mistaken for its natural source of food, he will often survive as there will most likely not be a second bite.

As you can see, while the great white shark deserves our respect, its reputation has been under attack. There are ways to cohabit in the same world while avoiding hurting each other. Tip 1: Learn the twelve bar blues song form in all keys.

Many of Chuck Berry's hits were in the twelve bar blues format, an example in the key of G would be:

Johnny B.Goode is played using this format. the interesting thing about Chuck Berry is that he is known for simply walking out on stage and playing his songs in different keys each night ... this definitely keeps his backing band on their toes.

To be able to play along with Chuck's songs it's important to be able to play the blues in all keys, for example you may have a version of Johnny B.Goode recorded in Bb, and your friend may have a version of the same song recorded on a different date when Chuck decided to play the song in the key of F.

Of course this keeps the songs interesting for Chuck who has been playing the same songs for many years, however it can be tricking if you don't recognize the unique sound qualities of each individual key.

Chuck Berry's lead guitar style is based on the blues scale an example of the blues scale in the key of G would be: G, Bb, C, Db, D, F.

Chuck who use this basic blues scale and often make slight variation for musical effect depending on the song Chuck would either play blues scale with an added 2nd resulting in this hybrid "G" blues scale:
G, A, Bb, C, Db, D, F.

Berry would also play his same scale , with an added harmony note a forth below the melody note resulting in a scale played in double stops.

Example of descending hybrid blues scale in key of G using double stops:

melody note = Bb, harmony note = F // melody note = A, harmony note = E // melody note = G, harmony note = D etc.

Tip 3: boogie-woogie bass patterns

Berry created his trademark rhythm guitar sounds by adding in the 6th and flattened 7th notes.

Instead of playing a whole bar of a eight note rhythm based on a single major chord, Chuck Berry would break up the sound be adding a major sixth chord on the third and seventh eight notes. This would lock into the snare drum beat and provide a solid rock beat.

Example of boogie-woogie rhythm in the key of G shown as eigth notes (eight notes to a single bar), counted 1&2&3&4& = 1 bar, when counting in this manner the major sixth chord occurs on the 2 and 4.

Who is Shania Twain?

On July 10, 2004 the UP World Tour for Shania Twain ended and we have not seen our favorite female artist ever since.. I knew when Shania Twain and her husband R.J. "Mutt" Lange decided to have a child it was pretty much over for the fans who love her on stage performances. I think that we got a bonus in 2003-2004 when she toured tirelessly, for over 113 concerts. I had the opportunity to see three Shania Twain performances and each was a truly awesome production. I can think of no other artist who brings that much energy and excitement to each show. The sheer number of sell out concerts was the proof that I was not alone either.

I am now thinking we may never see Shania Twain perform ever again, I think she may follow the footsteps of Garth Brooks and put her family first. I certainly hope that I am wrong about that, but the fact is Shania Twain has always put her family first. If you know the history of this great woman you know she took care of her brothers and sister after her parents were killed in a car accident. She worked hard to provide for them and now that she has her own family, why would we expect her not to do the same thing again. I wish her the best no matter what she does in the future; maybe keep putting out some albums and some holiday TV performances, but the road life is hard and she may want to be there for her husband and child.

I will say this to you my fellow Shania Twain fans, we were lucky enough to see to her live. I will always remember my first Shania Twain concert. It was at St. Louis, Missouri and I was very close to the stage. The album "Come on Over" was setting records for top female artist and one song after another was on the charts, and the tour was filling every stadium. Before the show I got to meet Shania Twain's drummer J.D. Blair and get an autograph and talk with him. I also met her fiddle player Roddy Chiong as well. What struck me was that both were Christians and signed my autographs with Biblical references. They both were so nice and I told them each how lucky they were to get to perform with Shania Twain each night. It was a magical show during which I also got Shania Twain to autograph my t-shirt (which I have ever worn since either).

I was hooked on this Diva and have been a fan club member and followed her career closely. If Shania Twain chooses to never perform another show I will be among the millions of other fans who will be saddened, but always support her choice. If we get blessed to see Shania Twain tour again, you can bet I will travel to see her; it will be worth the money just to see another show. Till that day I guess we can hold out hope, but I for one feel that I have seen my last Shania Twain concert. I just want to say to her, I miss your shows and wish you the best always, but I understand why you won't tour as well. I hope your life in New Zealand is treating you and your family well. We miss you Shania.
